Happy Reading!
"I'm not lazy; I have output failure."
ReplyDelete---Since reading this in the first chapter, I have used this phrase on a few occasions.
It totally makes sense that when your life as a whole is gratifying, that you lead a more productive life. Those that focus on the negative, tend to have output failure. It all goes back to "If you do good, then good comes to you". Children and adults as well, need to have positive relationships in order for themselves to see that their output can be positive.
DeleteI love the quote from page 5, "Branding them as lazy accomplishes nothing." Even if I disagree with some of what this author says, like that he is one person and this book is based on his observations, not what multiple studies have found and that more than one expert has studied this, I have to say, I like this quote because it is so true. It is almost like the idea of "If we set our expectations high (or low), the students have a good chance of meeting them."
ReplyDeleteI can so see how kids that have "Output Failure" can at times fall through the cracks, not be noticed until 4th and 5th grade and not realize that they needed that extra help to learn how to follow the process for writing. That whole process when he broke it all down seemed so daunting, and overwhelming for a student.
